Project Detail

A remaster, not a reissue.

When the original Vulnicura VR films were built, the hardware of the moment couldn't quite keep up with the ambition — memory limits and the immersive tech of the era forced real compromises along the way. This remaster rebuilds all seven films with new spatial audio and reprogrammed visuals, finally matching what the work was always meant to be.

In Her Own Words

A digital home for the work.

"A digital home for all the virtual reality videos we made." — Björk

Vulnicura VR began as an improvisation — an attempt to stay faithful to a format nobody had fully figured out yet. The seven films were built with six different production companies, four different software pipelines, and six different directors, each finding their own way to put heartbreak into three dimensions.

Björk has spoken about that theme directly: heartbreak is isolating, but it also offers a strange kind of escape. There's a healing quality to sitting inside a feeling in VR, rather than just describing it from the outside.

Exhibited Worldwide

From Reykjavík to Rio.

Before it found a permanent home online, Vulnicura VR toured as a museum exhibition — sixteen cities across five continents came to experience it in person.
